In hospital (again)

So Close but So Far....

A big shout out to all who have contributed OR ever thought of helping Sierra with a fundraiser: bike riding, running, yoga challenge... Please contact me directly. We have approximately $13K left to raise this year to have Sierra "school ready"!

Mid Year Review

Mid-year review: Mummy needs to have better understanding and use of PODD communication book, everyone involved with Sierra's care needs to: a) not move forward in conversation with Sierra without a yes or no answer b) understand and use the computer. Melissa and Shane need to be trained in new physiotherapy from Anel. Need to find a new Australian epilepsy doctor who will work with EU doctor and get seizures back under control without use of sedative drugs, car seat and standing frame for next 5 years growth we now have, still waiting (for Govt. money) for new chair with special head rest to help with feeding and computer use, and swivel base for car seat. Found the right school for Sierra, now need to support them to make applications for one on one aide funding and to find an aide that's suitable to go into school with her. Respite funding in place until the end of the year. Last O/S trip paid. Next O/S trip booked for last two weeks in January.

Thank you Bikram Yoga Wellington!

The beautiful people at Bikram Yoga Wellington raised money for Sierra completely unbeknown to us.

They raised somewhere between $550 and $600 NZ which takes the overall Bikram community money raised to approximately $5000!

 

We are so grateful. The timing is perfect as we are working very hard to get good post operative respite care for Sierra for the next few months.

Bikram Yoga Fitzroy kicks off the post operation donations with $1182 raised from December Mat Hire Money.

Sierra finally came home on Friday from three weeks in hospital. Three days turned into a three week saga. She is recovering slowly from two operations and her hips being set in an almost 180 degree angle brace. 

Thank you to EVERYONE who has been in contact and especially to the many of you who have stopped into the hospital to bring food, company or just give us a break.

Hospital After Care

Hello... We have known for some time that Sierra would eventually need hip surgery and have looked at many ways we could avoid this. Well... the day has come and she had surgery on Monday. The after care will be very challenging as she will be in casts from her hip to her ankles with a wooden bar holding her legs at 90 degrees for three weeks followed by many weeks where travel from my work will have Shane left to care for Sierra without support. Bikram Yoga Fitzroy has been raising money in December by donating their Mat Hire money. The amount will soon be annouced. We are welcoming any additional funds that we can use for hospital after care. Thank you.
